Mardi Gras 2026

Dayenuews Magzine article March 2026 After a complicated and difficult time managing the groups security and making a final decsion to not march in the parade, in the final days leading up to the event our security concerns were heeded with the help of NSW Police, and we were very happy to announce a return to the Mardi Gras 2026 parade encompassing community and a Powerful Jewish Presence.

Dayenu’s Mardi Gras weekend brought together our community for a warm and joyful set of community events including Shabbat dinner at Emanuel Synagogue, the parade and our celebrations in Double Bay. The weekend began with a beautiful Shabbat service and a sold‑out dinner at Emanuel Synagogue, attended by Mardi Gras leadership and community representatives.

On parade night, around 60 marchers formed a strong and spirited Dayenu contingent. Travelling together from Double Bay on our Mardi Gras shuttle double‑decker bus, the group arrived with unified energy and a striking & fresh visual identity.

Rainbow Magen David flags, shirts and signage including tributes honouring the victims of the Bondi attack - created a powerful presence on Oxford Street. All parade artwork and signage were designed and donated by Toby Centre Sydney, giving Dayenu a cohesive and dignified look that resonated strongly with spectators.

The crowd’s response was overwhelmingly supportive, with cheers following the group along the route. Dayenu marched alongside NSW emergency services in recognition of their heroic actions at Bondi, and we were joined by Rabbi Ninio, Rabbi Mordecai, Vic and Nadeen Alhadeff, Michele Goldman and Tanna Klevansky. We extend our thanks to the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies for sponsoring our transport and to the Golden Sheaf Hotel for hosting our pre‑ and post‑parade gatherings.

More than 100 ticket‑holders were eligible to attend the dance party, and those who came celebrated late into the night with music generously provided by DJ Erez Eisenberger. The atmosphere was warm, energetic and full of connection.

Mardi Gras 2026 was a meaningful expression of Jewish LGBTQ+ pride, resilience and community. We look forward to welcoming even more marchers in 2027. Images below from the Australian Jewish News.
