Queer Screen’s Mardi Gras Film FestivalThis year, Queer Screen's 29th Annual MGFF has a brilliant selection of LGBTQ+ films to see, some of which have Jewish and Israeli themes. These films include: the classic 'Bound', the sexy 'Mascarpone', feel-good 'Boy Meets Boy' and the vibrant 'Finlandia'. Join us in supporting this entertaining and insightful event bringing all things LGBTQ+ to the big screen! Mardi Gras Fair DayFor a number of years now, Fair Day has marked the start of the Mardi Gras Festival. After a brief hiatus in 2021, Fair Day is back to start the celebrations in 2022. Dayenu will again be proudly hosting our own booth throughout the day to openly discuss the crossover of LGBTQ+ and Jewish identities. Come and say Hello! Past Continuous: Jewish love story in multiple screeningsPast Continuous is a short film about a gay Jewish couple, Ilan and Oscar. They were the first religious Jewish same-sex couple to get married in Australia at Sydney’s Emanuel Synagogue. Mardi Gras Shabbat Service and DinnerCelebrate the start of Mardi Gras weekend with us! Come for Shabbat services at 6:15pm and stay for a delicious Shabbat dinner, hosted by Emanuel Synagogue in association with Dayenu. Booking is essential for the dinner as spaces are limited. Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras ParadeWatch out for the Dayenu Float in this year’s Mardi Gras Parade! If you would like to be a part of our float, registrations are now open to march with Dayenu in the Mardi Gras Parade. We only have about 35 places in the float for Dayenu members, so reserve your place or you'll miss out! Our theme: "Jewish Stars Shining Bright"The overall theme for Mardi Gras this year is "United We Shine", so we are responding to it by showing what shines through in the Jewish LGBTQ+ community. The key message that we want to convey through our float is that it’s okay (or Fabulous!) to be Jewish and Queer. We have been marching in the Mardi Gras Parade since 2000, so we invite you to continue this legacy with us. UIA Progressive Appeal 2022The Union for Progressive Judaism is proud to partner with the UIA across Australia and is supported by Dayenu Sydney. Among other amazing projects, the UIA funds absorption centres and youth villages, which work towards academic and social rehabilitation of children at risk. The Progressive UIA Appeal differs from the general appeal in that the monies go to Progressive causes.
